Doodh Puli Peethe is a traditional sweet dish from the Indian state of Assam, particularly popular among the Assamese & Bengali community. It consists of small rice dumplings filled with a sweet mixture, usually made with grated coconut, jaggery or sugar and sometimes, khoya (reduced milk).

The dumplings are cooked in a sweet milk syrup, which gives them a rich flavor. This dish is often made during festivals (Makar Sankranti) and special occasions, showcasing the culinary heritage of Assam & West Bengal, India. The combination of rice flour and the sweet filling makes it a delightful dessert that is both comforting and delicious.

So, let us start making this delicious sweet dish!

Ingredients: –

  • Rice flour- 500 gm
  • One grade coconut (wet)
  • Sugar- 2+2 Tb spoon each for milk syrup and stuffing
  • Cardamom- 2
  • Khoa- 100 gm
  • Full cream Milk- 1 liter
  • Salt- ½ spoon

Instructions: –

  • First, we take wok and add graded coconut, sugar, and cardamom. mix well and turn on the flame and stir every 2-3 mins. When the color gets changed then then switched off the flame and set aside. (this dish made from the date jaggery but you won’t have so we can make it from sugar as well)
  • Take 500-gram rice flour add pinch of salt and kneed along with warm water and make a dough and wait for 30 mins.
  • After that we take rice dough and make small balls and every ball stuffed the mixture what we made it.
  • In a wok add 1 ltr milk stir well and when it quantity reduces (700- 800 ml approx ) then add 2 Tb spoon sugar and add those stuffed balls.
  • Cook for 8-10 mins and switched off the flame and this Puli Peethe is ready to serve.

Servings- 6 people

Time- 40 mins
